An African proverb says, “It takes a village to raise a child”;for me it took several continents. I grew up in a small village in West Africa near Elmina, Cape Coast. Everyone knew everyone, and everyone shared everything. There were a couple of wells from which we got our drinking water and several stores located in the homes of certain individuals.
