General Admissions Advice
What I now know about my school that I never would have known prior to enrolling
149 Words
Wheaton College in Massachusetts is a small (but beautiful) campus that is often referred to as the "Wheaton Bubble." The campus provides numerous opportunities for student leadership coupled with strong academic departments. Every year, about 15% of the student body goes abroad for at least a semester. The campus is making strides to adjust to its increasing ethnic/racial diversity but unfortunately the liberal nature of the school leads many people to believe that Wheaton is already an accepting environment. The food has gotten worse every year since 2012 despite renovations to the dining halls. The small student body gives the school a high school feel in terms of student relations. Wheaton has many cons that seemingly eclipse it's pros but the opportunities for success are endless if you are a certain type of student and make the right connections. Also, Wheaton students generally do well in the work force post-graduation.

Whether I took out loans or applied for scholarships, and my advice

You should apply for as many scholarships as possible. Binding scholarships that require you to go to particular schools may be regretted later on. I do not regret accepting my scholarship but after attending Wheaton I wondered what I would have done if I had more options.
How I chose schools to apply to

This usually works better when you've already visited the school but try to imagine yourself LIVING there for four years. If commuting to college, ask yourself if you'd want to go there everyday.
