Personal Statement
685 Words
Love of writing, Childhood memory
I talked about something important to me in a way that represented who I am. I made sure that it slightly witty but also true to myself. Here is my essay. In the 17 years of my life, I have learned more than just the Krebs Cycle and Einstein’s mass-energy equivalence formula. I have learned to not pull a cat’s tail. When I was four years old, I decided to embark on a crazy adventure. I decided I would...

Supplemental Essay Unique question posed by school
59 Words
This was the hardest essay for me because the prompts were literally so ridiculous. But, my suggestion is choose the one that you think you can actually write a good essay on. Also, make sure it's not generic. College admissions officers can see right through generic essays. Make your essay interesting but also true to yourself and the prompt.

Supplemental Essay “Why us” school essay
79 Words
I had limited space to work with so I described how I could see myself as a student at that campus. Depending on how much you like the school will affect how this essay looks. For me, it was hard because I did not care too much for the school. But, if you really like the school try to think about the things that make you like it and what is unique about them in comparison to other schools.

Additional Essay Details

This is basically a review of my thought process during writing these essays and why I chose to write about the topics in my essays. I applied to a total of five schools and of the five schools 4 required additional essays of some sort plus the common app. I made some general rules for myself for each essay I would write. The rules were the following: • Make an interesting topic sentence to hook the reader • Make sure I answered the...

How I chose schools to apply to
242 Words
Choosing schools was probably the hardest, yet easiest decision. I had four top schools: Harvard University, Yale University, Boston College, and Johns Hopkins. The reason these were my top schools is because when I visited I felt like I belonged on the campus. I could see myself as a student at these schools. What made Harvard different was when I was visiting I felt like I needed to be on the campus....

My extracurricular activities in college, and why I chose them
191 Words
I did continue some of the same extracurriculars I participated in high school. I am still part of cultural clubs but two this time. I am part of Fuerza Latina, Harvard's pan-Latino club, Association of Black Harvard Women, and Black Student Association. I am on the board for Association of Black Harvard Women, First-Year Black Table, a...

Recommended summer activities during high school and college
489 Words
There is this belief that you have to do as many extracurriculars as possible to make you a "well-rounded student". That is false. Do not do an extracurricular just to put it on your resume or college application. In addition, trying out so many things may just show that you do not have a focus and are all over the place. If you try to do everything and anything, you will wear yourself out. Also, it will not guarantee that you will be accepted to the school you want. Do it because you enjoy it and stick with it. Find...
